René Delarue opened his own earthenware factory in Desvres in 1947 with his wife.
He handcrafted all kinds of earthenware, sometimes with very surprising patterns and shapes. He also used colors reminiscent of Vallauris. He also worked with Gil Vicente Franco, where they created pieces on the theme of fishing and the sea. He was perhaps the only one to diversify so widely across genres and eras, from classical to modern.
A master earthenware maker, he had a brushstroke that no one could match. During his best years, only about ten people worked for him, recruited for their drawing talent, and all the pieces were entirely handmade.
These pieces are now highly sought after, and many pieces are unique. This piece has an attribution mark,
