Rural armchair, crafted around 1900 in the Savoy region, is made from solid larch and pine and reflects traditional mountain craftsmanship.
The structure is built with square uprights joined by pegged mortise-and-tenon construction, reinforced by lower stretchers ensuring stability and strength.
The backrest, formed by two wide horizontal planks, along with the thick straight armrests, highlights a simple and functional construction. The plank seat shows a time-worn patina consistent with long use.
A fine example of Savoyard mountain furniture, defined by its raw, honest aesthetic and utilitarian design.
