Artistic Context & Symbolism
Götze’s "can" series is a sophisticated dialogue with Andy Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s Soup cans. While Warhol used the can to examine American consumerism and mass production, Götze repurposes the form to hold complex, narrative stories.

By filling a "disposable" commercial object with stylized figures and frantic energy, symbolized here by the leaping, spotted dog, Götze suggests that history and human experience are often consumed as quickly as a soft drink.
