Step into the romantic spirit of the Grand Tour with this pair of 19th-century bronze architectural models, capturing two of the most storied monuments of the Roman Forum, the Temple of Vespasian and the Temple of Castor & Pollux. These cast metal miniatures evoke the scholarly pursuits and refined tastes of travelers who once journeyed through Italy, bringing home tangible reminders of classical antiquity.
Each model is beautifully rendered in an aged patinated bronze, with slender columns and time-softened surfaces that speak to both age and craftsmanship. The structures rise from elegant, two-tiered marble bases, their natural veining adding contrast and a sense of permanence befitting their ancient inspirations.
The Temple of Vespasian measured 2 inches wide, 2 inches deep, and 5.25 inches high, and weighing approximately 10 ounces. Two columns have a slight gap between the top capital. One of the columns has a slight looseness when touched. The Temple of Castor & Pollux measures 3 inches wide, 1.5 inches deep, and 5 inches high, with a weight of 14 ounces. Good antique condition with signs of wear and handling. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
Together, they form a harmonious and visually compelling pairing. Perfectly suited for a gentleman’s study, library, or curated vignette atop leather-bound volumes, these models bring an air of intellectual sophistication and classical beauty to any interior. Whether displayed as a focal point or integrated into a larger collection, they offer a timeless tribute to the enduring legacy of ancient Rome.
