This is an beautiful Victorian writing desk, which exudes a historical charm to the home office or living room décor. Circa 1890s.
The large rectangular desk has a red leather writing top, and is finished with a lower carved lip.
The desk exterior displays a wonderful Oak patination, adding a rustic, country style that enriches the home setting.
The desk front has a large central drawer, with four graduating drawers to either side of the desk, providing plenty of storage for utensils, documents and books.
The four graduating drawers all have locks, which can be locked with the key provided.
The central drawer does not have a lock present.
The drawer are all finished with excellently bun shaped Oak handles.
The desk has a central knee hole for a chair to comfortably sit under. The knee hole boarder has charming carved additions.
The front lower right knee corner carving has been historically damaged (see photograph).
Standing proudly on a solid lower freestanding base, with a raised boarder.
There are 4 rolling castors underneath the drawer plinths, making the desk more portable for use.
This excellent Victorian writing desk is sure to make a statement in a period home setting.
Overall, this writing desk is in great antique condition, with signs of general use and veneer wear, as to be expected from an item with years of use (see photographs).
There are historical signs of use and marks to the leather tabletop (see photographs).
There is veneer damage to the back, bottom of the desk (see photograph).
