Standing almost two feet tall, a striking figure of King Henry VIII, the Tudor King of England from 1509 to … Read more Standing almost two feet tall, a striking figure of King Henry VIII, the Tudor King of England from 1509 to 1547, wearing his velvet cap with ostrich plume, a gilt bejeweled tunic and a black velvet jacket with fur collar. Most likely a hand-made figure from the 40's or earlier, utilizing painted ceramic head and hands with braided gold ribbons to simulate chains and tassels, striking a pose on a wooden gold-painted base. A metal rod up through one leg holds the figure in place; some soiling to the faux fur and it appears there was a repair where the head and neck join, but it is barely noticeable. An interesting historical figure for the Anglophile. See less
