The fish is highly textured, and the blue glaze has an under layer of bronze color, adding visual depth. It has a built-in hanger so it can either lay flat or be hung as wall art. Dimensions approximately 13"x9.5"x0.5".

David Gil, b. 1922, founded Bennington Potters in 1948, and was the owner-operator until 2002. His work gained national attention in the 1950s with exhibits at the National Ceramic Show and in the 1955 Good Design exhibition at MOMA NY. Today his work remains highly valued and collectible as both art and functional pieces.

This platter is in very good vintage condition. It shows slight chipping at the corner of the mouth, which appears to have occurred in the production process due to the overlay of glaze. See less
