a silver biscuit tin or decorative box featuring old dutch scenes. This oval dutch silver box features a seascape on the hinged lid. The "aemilia and the ship de brederode" are visible. The flagship de brederode (1644-1658) is one of the most legendary warships of the dutch golden age. Built by jan salomonszoon van den tempel as the sister ship of the famous aemilia, the brederode served as flagship for both witte de with and maarten tromp.

the box is dutch hallmarked (see photos) with a "lion 2" 835/000 purity of silver. The assayer's mark is a minerva head with the letter a for amsterdam, and the year letter q for the year 1926. The maker's mark is that of c. Schoorl & j.a. Dal (dahlia company) sauveplanne & hemelrijk (1920-1958).
