The figure holds two flowers and a … Read more A Derby porcelain figure of a seated flower seller, dating to circa 1780–1784. The figure holds two flowers and a basket filled with finely painted blossoms, decorated in strong colours with generous gilding typical of the period.

The model is identified in catalogues as No. 8 from the “Seated Boy and Girl with Fruit and Flowers” group. Originally conceived as a pair, this is the female companion. The design derives from Michel-Victor Acier’s Meissen models, later adopted at Derby.

Recorded in the Derby Sale Catalogue of 1771, the model remained in production into the early 19th century and was also adapted as chamber candlesticks.

A well-defined and collectible example with strong colour and clear modelling.
