a chair designed by michael anastassiades as an oxymoron, with an austere metal structure that embraces a comfortable, inviting seat. Inspiration: the elegant, flawless movements of figure skating.

the version of the chair without armrests is available in two models, with backrest in two different heights.

comfortable and elegant, flutz pairs with the ordinal dining table, also by the cyprian designer, for a complete minimalist line of furnishings. In addition, thanks to the work carried out by cassina lab, all of the pieces of the chair can be disassembled at the end of its life cycle.

inspiration: the precise, elegant movements of figure skating. The shape, an oxymoron, of materials and thicknesses. Flutz is the perfect union between a rigid, geometric structure and soft, inviting seating. The flutz chair is now available in two new versions without armrests – one with a low backrest and the other with a high backrest. Two thin parallel aluminium sheets rise up, creating a rigid support that embraces the comfortable seat. Upholstered in leather or removable fabric, it ensures sturdy yet comfortable support, thanks to the shell wrapped in soft padding encased in a slipcover made of recycled pet wadding. Through the work carried out by cassina lab, with an eye to circularity, the various parts of the chair were designed to be disassembled and recycled at the end of its life cycle. This includes the padding (that can be separated from the slipcover thanks to an internal zipper) and the metal structure with matte finish. Comfortable and elegant, flutz pairs perfectly with the ordinal table, also by the cyprian designer, rounding out his range of dining products.

about the designer:
michael anastassiades is a cypriot designer, based in london. He launched his studio in 1994 to explore contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics through a combination of product, furniture and environmental design. Positioned between fine art and design, his work aims to provoke dialogue, participation and interaction. He creates objects that are minimal, utilitarian and almost mundane yet full of a vitality one might not expect. Anastassiades’ work is featured in permanent collections. He has designed products with various leading manufacturers. In 2007 he set up michael anastassiades the company to produce his signature pieces, a collection of lighting, furniture, jewellery and tabletop objects. The studio’s philosophy is a continuous search for eclecticism, individuality and timeless qualities in design. Michael trained as a civil engineer at london’s imperial college of science technology and medicine before taking a masters degree in industrial design at the royal college of art.
