Franco albini cavalletto desk table for cassina the geometric lines of the cavalletto desk elicit a pleasant feeling of lightness through its ‘by the book’ construction that showcases cassina’s joinery expertise. A totally versatile modern piece of furniture, perfect in the home office or corporate headquarters. Franco albini designed this historic wood desk envisioning a minimalist structure in which traction and compression become the key rules of an aesthetic harmony that joins method and research, form and function, balance and stability. This iconic table requires a delicate process of assembly that reflects the class and formal elegance of the design, expressed in the detail of the two burnished brass tensioning rods that also act as braces. Metal parts exposed parts in black burnished brass. Top particleboard panel with edges in solid ash wood or american walnut. This table, with its minimal lines and an extremely light look, underscores the extensive thought, by franco albini, and the advanced wood-working skills, by cassina, that went into its creation. Its stability based on the principle of opposing forces, the frame looks improvised, volumes and weights having been reduced. Cavalletto, which means trestle in english is assembled using two tensioning rods in burnished brass that also serve for bracing. The intricate construction process, executed by cassina’s carpenters, illustrates the excellence of the wood-working skills of the craftsmen of meda. Offering an extremely refined interpretation of form, this vision of elegance shows cassina’s customary attention to detail extending to the metal parts, not to mention the border trim on the table-top. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
