It was primarily used as … Read more This is antique Windsor Style rocking Chair that has been passed down from My grandmother. It was primarily used as a decorative piece and shows minimal signs of wear. From what I know about this piece. It was hand crafted sometime between 1880-1910. Pictures will shows the differences in symmetry to show it isn’t a replication. It sits lower with a wide seat and has beautiful spindle designs. It was her mother’s rocking chair. As she has now passed I don’t have any further information. I did speak to a museum curator who believes the black finish may be the original patina and crafted with Mortise and Tenon Joints. This chair is in Exceptional conditional and still solid and in usable condition. There is nothing broken, although it does appear to had been fixed at one point on one of the bottom rockers that doesn’t affect function, no chipping wood. It is fused underneath by what appears to be strips of metal and flat head screws. Not sure of what type of wood. No marking or labels. Thanks for looking! See less
