The lid is … Read more This 18th-century Moustiers earthenware box features an elegant oval shape and refined decoration typical of Provençal production. The lid is adorned with a lively pastoral scene depicting a couple in period costume in a bucolic landscape, surrounded by a frieze of delicately hand-painted flowers.

The soft colors, dominated by shades of blue, yellow, green, and ochre, along with the finely executed decoration, attest to the skill of the potters of this renowned manufactory. The box has a brass mount with a hinge, allowing the lid to open.

Good overall condition, with a few cracks and a small chip. The box closes securely.

Its dimensions are 11 cm wide, 7 cm high, and 6 cm deep. See less
