Early 20th century Swedish desk fitted with five drawers. The desk stands on turned, fluted legs with brass-capped feet and features a brass edge surrounding the top.
The writing surface is finished in black leather with an embossed gold border, showing scuffs, scratches, and impressions consistent with years of use. The top is flanked by two narrow pull-out writing surfaces. The left pull-out retains a black leather surface, while the right shows a very dark brown leather with slight burgundy undertones. Both feature gold embossed borders that mirror the desk top.
The desk is not a partner’s desk, though the back is fully finished (faux drawers do not function), allowing it to be used freestanding.
The original locks no longer function. A key is included and may be used as a pull for easier access to the drawers.
The floor-to-skirt height measures approximately 24 inches, allowing for comfortable seating.
The desk has been restored and is strong, stable, and ready for use. The overall form presents a classic and timeless look.
All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this handsome desk.
