This historically significant monumental size French film poster by Orsi is titled "A Nous la Belle" (To you Beautiful ), and advertises a showing at the "Orsi Théâtre des Arts". under the direction of Jean Fabert. "Based on available records, there is limited information regarding the prominent Jean Fabert as a French film director. Historical records indicate he was also associated with Moulin Rouge direction in 1913."
Signed Orsi, Italo Orsi (1889–1947) was a prolific early 20th-century designer known for creating hundreds of Art Deco-style posters, often featuring theatrical, operetta, and commercial themes, including a famous 1924 Paris summer Olympics javelin thrower poster.
The artwork touts a "grand spectacle" revue, and depicts a WWI German soldier dressed in a 1916 uniform and smoking a pipe, alongside a young woman in a colorful red dress and hat. Laurel leaves on German military items, including, specifically, on insignia associated with helmets also of the 1916 period, signify victory, honor, and achievement. Drawing from ancient Greek and Roman traditions, they represent martial triumph, often honoring a successful commander or celebrating a major battle victory.
Incredible that it has survived in such good condition this long, the bottom of the poster displays the Monmartre address Atiliers Orsi 55 bis boulevard Pereire.
Newly framed with plexiglass in 4250a colorful laminated wooden frame complimenting the colors of the woman's outfit.
