German Jugendstil writing desk attributed to Bruno Paul, circa 1900.
The desk is executed in solid wood with finely detailed geometric inlay to the drawer fronts and cabinet doors. Its architectural form, with slender tapered legs and balanced proportions, reflects the restrained elegance of early 20th-century German design and the transition from Art Nouveau to early modernism.
The interior is fitted with shelving, offering practical storage. The piece retains a natural patina and presents well overall.
Of solid and substantial construction.
A matching pair of chairs from the same set is available separately in our shop and can be combined to create a cohesive and sophisticated study ensemble. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
