Limited edition, numbered & signed. Dimensions: W 104 x D 100 x H 68 cm. Materials: Aluminium. Remus is the more unsettled of the two brother objects. It shares its origin, material, and method with Romulus: planar aluminium elements, precisely assembled, stripped of ornament and mediation. Yet a minor shift in posture alters the entire reading of the chair. Where Romulus condenses itself around a stable core, Remus opens. Its geometry appears more exposed, more strained, less reconciled. Forces remain visible. The object reads as if caught in the moment before resolution. The difference is not one of function, but of structural temperament. Remus does not reject order; it places pressure on it. Stability is still present, but it is tested rather than affirmed. Within the pair, Remus carries the possibility of rupture. It is the brother that keeps the system from closing too neatly — an armchair defined by tension, exposure, and controlled instability. The chair is conceived and delivered in its bare form, where the work is fully resolved. The Case Study. This piece is part of the Case Study collection, which follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. The work of Bureau of Entropy follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. Objects are developed through two primary binding principles: precise interlocking parts with minimal tolerances, and gravity used as a structural agent. Form follows function not as a slogan, but as constraint. Less is more not as style, but as discipline. Within this corridor, forms emerge that recall ancient, culturally tested archetypes — objects whose functions have endured for millennia. Their familiarity is not nostalgic, but structural. Each object represents a specific condition within this ongoing case study. Bureau of Entropy is a design collective founded in 2025 by Marvin Julian Freund and Matthias Figurowicz. The collective is rooted in a shared background in toolmaking craftsmanship, where both founders developed a deep understanding of material behaviour, precision manufacturing, and metalworking processes. This early, hands-on experience continues to inform their approach to construction and structural logic. Following this foundation, Freund pursued studies in architecture with a focus on spatial design, proportion, and material presence, while Figurowicz studied mechanical engineering, specialising in structure, mechanics, and functional systems. Over time, their distinct disciplines evolved in parallel, shaping complementary perspectives on form and function. In 2025, these paths converged in the formation of Bureau of Entropy. Today, the collective works at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and craftsmanship, developing furniture and lighting objects that emphasise structural clarity, material intelligence, and reduced form. The work operates between functional object and sculptural presence, positioning itself within the field of collectible design. See less
