Limited edition, numbered & signed. Dimensions: W 75 x D 40 x H 50 cm. Materials: Aluminium. Curulis is the more condensed counterpart within the reciprocal Curulis pair. Constructed from planar aluminium elements slotted together without fasteners, it embodies the same structural principle as Curulis Major, but at a more reduced and compressed scale. Its authority is not diminished by that reduction. It becomes denser. More concentrated. The chair reads less as declaration and more as structural fact. The reference to the sella curulis remains present, but distilled: a seat not for comfort, but for presence; not for permanence, but for temporary order. Curulis does not stand as an autonomous object in the full sense. Its logic remains relational. Stability emerges through proximity, mutual reliance, and the measured agreement between forces. Within the pair, Curulis is the quieter half — but also the more compressed one, where discipline replaces amplitude and precision replaces display. The Case Study. This piece is part of the Case Study collection, which follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. The work of Bureau of Entropy follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. Objects are developed through two primary binding principles: precise interlocking parts with minimal tolerances, and gravity used as a structural agent. Form follows function not as a slogan, but as constraint. Less is more not as style, but as discipline. Within this corridor, forms emerge that recall ancient, culturally tested archetypes — objects whose functions have endured for millennia. Their familiarity is not nostalgic, but structural. Each object represents a specific condition within this ongoing case study. Bureau of Entropy is a design collective founded in 2025 by Marvin Julian Freun See less
