Colossal floor vase in glazed stoneware. Beautiful orange uranium glaze. In good condition. Minor burning mark at the bottom from production. Stamped. Measures 56 x 39 cm. Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948) was a Danish artist and ceramicist best known for his long-standing collaboration with Kähler´s in Næstved. He created iconic vases and bowls characterized by strong silhouettes and deep fluting, often finished in the distinctive grey-black double glaze— a dark, richly layered glaze known for its depth and lustre. Hammershøi's work blends classical forms with innovative surfaces and has become emblematic of Danish ceramic modernism. He was the brother of the painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. See less
