This is a sophisticated pair of antique fireside tool rests, or "fire dogs," dating to the late 19th-century Victorian period (circa 1890). These pieces exemplify the Classical Revival taste of the era, combining functional durability with elegant, architectural silhouettes. The rests feature richly toned brass pillars with distinct ring-turned detailing, rising to meet beehive-style ball finials. The central horizontal bars are designed with a generous clearance to support a full set of fireside tools.
