The contrast of organic materials — the matte, honey-toned rattan and the high-polish silver — is quintessentially Peretti, as is the restraint of the overall design. The coral measures 8.2 x 6.6mm and adds a warm pop of color against the natural wood. Minor wear consistent with age.
Elsa Peretti began her collaboration with Tiffany & Co. in 1974, and her earliest designs are among the most sought-after by collectors today. Her use of natural and unconventional materials — wood, bone, cork, and organic stones — set her apart from every other jewelry designer working at the time and reflected a deeply personal philosophy about the relationship between the body, nature, and adornment. This rattan cuff dates to 1976 and represents some of her most experimental and collectible early work. Pieces from this period surface infrequently on the secondary market.
