The stand’s design—a nod to antique navigational armillaries—utilizes a tension-mount system that allows the shell to "float" above its weighted gallery base. There is a trace chip to the delicate outer lip, which is minor and consistent with its life in the surf and subsequent vintage age. • The Display: The gold-tone metal stand is offered in its original, unpolished state, boasting a rich and varied natural patina. We have chosen to leave the metal untouched to preserve its antique integrity; however, it could be buffed to a brighter shine by the buyer if desired. • Structure: The tension-rod mounting system is secure and fully functional, holding the shell firmly in its sculptural position. less
