A 1946 charcoal drawing by American artist Eugene Savage (1883-1978). This piece depicts a muted scene with houses, boats parked out front, and a child standing in the middle of the yard. Displayed in a gold-tone wooden frame against a white mat, this piece is signed and dated to the lower right.
Born in Covington, Indiana in 1883, Eugene Savage spent his life studying, creating and teaching art. During his time at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1912, he was awarded the Rome Prize, which allowed him to continue his studies at the American Academy in Rome. He went on to receive his Masters of Fine Art from Yale, where he remained there to teach design and painting for twenty-eight years.
