Likely made from mahogany or walnut, the bench’s aprons display facing matched crotch veneers. One long side and two ends of the wood frame are edged with raised scalloped carving and all four legs are topped with shield-shaped medallions. The piece is upholstered in dense cocoa mohair, traditionally valued for its durability and sheen. Originally used in salons and boudoirs, these benches now serve as end-of-bed or entryway accents. And, it would also be quite nice in front of your log-filled fireplace.
