This Goa Cabinet is a soulful, mid-sized architectural anchor that captures the eclectic essence of coastal colonial design. Handcrafted from solid teakwood with a deep, hand-rubbed chocolate patina, this 48-inch cabinet is defined by its two distinct styles of inset ceramic tiles. The upper frieze features a charming row of hand-painted floral baskets, while the lower drawers are accented with geometric blue-and-white "azulejo" style tiles, creating a rhythmic and storied visual texture. The piece features two large glass-front doors that open to reveal generous internal shelving, making it an ideal choice for a curated "cabinet of curiosities," a small library, or a sophisticated bar cabinet. Below the doors, two functional storage drawers with original metal cup pulls provide space for smaller essentials. The contrast between the dark, weathered timber and the bright, glazed ceramics gives this piece a "found" quality that anchors a room in history.
As an authentic antique artifact, this cabinet displays a magnificent, age-earned character. The wood exhibits a beautiful matte finish with soft rounding at the corners and historical joinery marks. The antique tiles show a delicate crazing and minor surface variations, serving as essential proof of the piece's long journey from the colonial coastal regions of South Asia.
