Cherished by the scholars, brush pot like this would grace the desk in the man's study and used to hold the collection of the brush pens. Covered in a milky celadon glaze, the design of this brushpot is composed of stacked rings. The simple and repetitive motif renders a highly geometrical visual.
This piece was possibly made in Bunwon Kiln, a royal kiln established in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-Do province. It was one of the largest kilns that produced many scholar items.
From a Japanese collection and it comes with a COA issued by a Japanese Auction house and gallery.
