An original 1924 pochoir print titled "Espagnoles" (Spanish Women) by the celebrated French illustrator Jacques Demachy, featured in the iconic Gazette du Bon Ton. This piece reflects the mid-1920s Parisian fascination with Spanish culture and "exoticism," depicting three women in stylized, ruffled attire with a bold mustard-yellow focal point.
Sourced from a specialist dealer at a Parisian flea market, this authentic plate was created using the labor-intensive pochoir process. The hand-applied layers of color give the print a unique, painterly texture and vibrancy that sets original 1920s plates apart from modern reproductions.
Condition & Presentation:
Excellent vintage condition. The colors are bright and the linework is crisp. It is beautifully presented in a custom 11" x 14" mat with a unique metallic gold inner bevel that draws out the subtle cool tones in the illustration's background.
