Direct from England, an impressive antique Gothic hall bench featuring four deeply carved medieval figures in high relief across the bench back.

The crenellated top rail gives the bench a bold presence reminiscent of a medieval castle and provides a frame for the exquisitely carved panels below.

Each panel features elaborate, hand-carved Gothic tracery and foliate above four individually carved medieval figures in high relief--a knight, nobleman, cleric, and soldier. Note the attention to detail from helmets to clothing, shields and headgear.

Shaped arms flank a paneled hinged seat with iron strap hinges. Below, carved linenfold panels enrich the lower front, completing the Gothic design.

Quality construction; well-built by craftsmen of the period, circa 1880.

Measurements: 55.75” Height x 55” Width x 18” Depth. Seat Ht. 18.5”.
