A serigraph on paper titled "I Love the World" by Peter Max. Published circa 2000s. Hand signed in white pencil on the lower right with an annotation of 68/300. Known for his distinctive psychedelic style, Peter Max frequently revisited this composition, which is closely associated with his “Peace by the Year 2000” series. The imagery originates from a drawing he created in 1985 while backstage at the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia, inspired by the performers’ humanitarian efforts. The composition depicts a stylized profile of a human figure is outlined in fluid, continuous lines, merging with a large, spherical form suggestive of the Earth. Peter Max (b. 1937) is a German-born American artist internationally recognized as one of the most iconic figures of American Pop Art. Rising to prominence in the 1960s, Max became synonymous with the psychedelic visual language of the era. His work has been exhibited in hundreds of museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide and is included in major institutional and private collections. Max has received numerous honors, including commissions from six U.S. Presidents, and was the Official Artist of the 1994 Grammy Awards, the 2006 U.S. Winter Olympic Team, and multiple Super Bowls, World Cups, and the Statue of Liberty Centennial. His cultural impact was further recognized with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his contributions to American art and heritage.
