The chairs are impeccably crafted with molded and laminated birch wood frames and upholstered seat. An important model in Scandinavian modern design, the Lamino chair was first introduced in 1956. The design features Ekström’s signature open-arm form with a continuous curved frame and a low, reclined profile. This rare matching vintage pair features birch wood frames with original dark brown suede upholstery fabric. Both chairs are branded Swedese, Yngve Ekström Design, Made in Sweden, with production number stamps.

Yngve Ekström
Yngve Ekström (1913 - 1988) was one of Sweden’s most influential furniture designers and a central figure in the development of Scandinavian modernism. Deeply rooted in Swedish craft tradition, Ekström combined functional clarity with a refined sense of proportion and warmth. Ekström co-founded the company ESE-möbler, which later became Swedese AB.

Swedese
Swedese is a renowned Swedish furniture manufacturer founded in 1945. Closely associated with Yngve Ekström, the company produced many of his most important works, including the Lamino Chair, which remains one of Swedese’s defining designs and a benchmark of Scandinavian craftsmanship.

Lamino Chair
Designed in 1956, the Lamino Chair became Ekström’s most iconic creation and a cornerstone of Swedish modern design. Celebrated for its sculptural laminated wood frame and ergonomic form, Lamino embodies the Scandinavian ideal of beauty through function — elegant, humane, and timeless. In 1999, Sköna Hem magazine voted it the best Swedish furniture design of the 20th century.

CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Suede fabric shows general wear including minor scuffs and wear marks expected with typical use over time as per photos.
