Inspired … Read more A late 19th century Italian Renaissance Revival Savonarola chair with a bold architectural form and richly carved detail throughout. Inspired by earlier 15th and 16th century designs, these folding X-frame chairs were symbols of status and craftsmanship, often associated with ecclesiastical and noble settings.

Crafted in walnut, this example has beautifully shaped slats forming the classic curule-style base, with a carved crest rail, rounded arm handholds, and a decorated seat panel. The profile has strong sculptural presence and looks great from every angle.

Nice antique condition consistent with age and normal use. Expected wear throughout including surface marks, minor imperfections, and areas of finish wear. The two forward cross members have been repaired where they attach to the seat; stable and does not affect usability. Solid structure overall.
