An exceptional and highly sculptural Postmodern desk designed by acclaimed American architect and designer Jordan Mozer, crafted in 1996 for the celebrated D’Alba Residence in Glencoe, Illinois. This rare bespoke example exemplifies Mozer’s distinctive biomorphic design language, merging architecture, furniture, and functional sculpture into a singular statement piece.
Executed in richly toned hardwood with a satin finish, the desk features a dramatic scroll-form silhouette with sweeping curves and bold, architectural presence. The asymmetrical design incorporates a rolled cabinet form at one end, opening to reveal concealed interior shelving for storage, while a discreet drawer integrated into the main surface provides additional functionality. The opposing end terminates in a striking scroll detail, echoing classical forms reinterpreted through a distinctly Postmodern lens.
The desk is supported by elegantly cast aluminum legs with a stylized hoof or scroll foot, that complements the warmth of the wood. The interplay of organic curves, architectural geometry, and finely crafted materials reflects Mozer’s training as an architect and his reputation for creating one-of-a-kind interiors and furnishings for significant residential commissions.
Originally commissioned for a prominent private residence, this documented example carries notable provenance and stands as both a functional workspace and a collectible work of design art. Jordan Mozer’s custom pieces are held in important private and institutional collections and are increasingly sought after by collectors of late 20th-century American design and Postmodern studio furniture.
A rare opportunity to acquire an architect-designed, site-specific desk of exceptional craftsmanship and sculptural presence, ideal for collectors of Postmodern design, architectural furniture, and bespoke studio works.

Jordan Mozer is an American architect and designer known for his highly sculptural, biomorphic approach to furniture, interiors, and architecture. His work is characterized by fluid forms, rich materials, and meticulous craftsmanship, often produced as one-of-a-kind or limited commissions for private residences and notable public spaces. Trained as an architect, Mozer brings an architectural sensibility to furniture design, resulting in pieces that are both structurally innovative and visually expressive. His designs have been exhibited internationally and are held in prominent private collections, with select works included in museum exhibitions exploring late 20th-century American design and Postmodern studio furniture.
