Nicely shaped & richly enamel ovoid ginger jar decorated by hand on the Island of Macau, China with an abundance of exotic flowers and buds with jade coloured leaves. Palest of apricot background with touches of pale silvery gray. Super pretty. Original top and finial.
Signed on the underside - Da Qing Tongzhi Nian Zhi - Great Qing Tongzhi (1862-74) Period Made.
'Macau style' enamel made early/mid 1960's when the island was under Portuguese administration. These pieces are now getting harder to find. A little bit of history from an island in the Pearl River, off the coast of China.
Iron Red border mark - Da Qing Tongzhi Nian Zhi - "Great Qing Tongzhi (1862-74) Period Made.
