Early 19th-century Swedish oak secretary bureau with a newer professionally applied antique white painted exterior with pale gray undertones. The serpentine front enhances the visual appeal.
The drop-front desktop opens to rest on extending arms, revealing a well-organized interior fitted with small drawers and a central cubby. The lower base contains three large functioning drawers, each fitted with two brass pulls and an upper narrow drawer. Drawer bottoms show typical stains and age-related plank separation for oak of this period; some repairs were completed at an earlier time.
Key/locks work stiffly and inconsistently, we suggest using keys as pulls only.
Minor cracks, scratches, and gouges are present throughout the interior and exterior, reflecting long use. Professionally restored, strong, and stable, this secretary is ready for use and offers a balanced combination of storage, craftsmanship, and classic Swedish design. Built in two sections. Old repairs seen along back.
