The lower section features nine drawers with a larger central … Read more 19th century Swedish bookcase or display cabinet crafted in pine. The lower section features nine drawers with a larger central drawers flanked by smaller drawers.
The upper cabinet includes glass pane doors with decorative circular panel "astragal" accents creating strong visual interest. The cabinet has a newer professionally applied antique white painted finish in keeping with the Gustavian style.
The upper section opens with a lock and key and reveals a blue painted interior. Three adjustable shelves allow flexible display for books or collections.
The cabinet is built in two sections to allow easier transportation and installation. Distressing to the painted finish reveals areas of natural wood beneath.
Canted fluted sides and tapered fluted feet add architectural detail, while dentil molding accents both the crown and the lower cabinet.
Typical cracks, scratches, and nicks are present throughout and reflect years of use. The cabinet has been restored and is strong, stable, and ready for use.
