Tea or tsampa is mixed directly into the butter tea—which is made from brick tea, yak butter, and salt—to create a thick, nutritious, porridge-like breakfast staple. Each individual has his or hers tea bowl, Males carry theirs in the big pouch above their waist, made from overlapping their jackets and tightened with the belts.

This bowl is larger than the traditional bowl. It is commonly cragted from burl wood with silver or metal lining. It barely shows usage. I found it in all places, Huntsville Alabama. I would imagine it was a momento of one's travel to the Himalayan region. See less
