Incredible condition on this pair of Boris Tabacoff 'Sphere' lucite lounge chairs, France, circa late 1960s. Designed for Mobilier Modulaire Moderne, these sculptural easy chairs represent the pinnacle of French Space Age Modern design: sleek, futuristic, and effortlessly sophisticated.
Each chair features a smoked Lucite shell mounted on a polished chrome circular base, giving the impression of a floating seat. The Lucite has a subtle rose-bronze tint that varies with lighting, appearing richer and warmer under natural sunlight. The chairs are upholstered in a suede-textured cognac color fabric, soft to the touch and visually rich against the mirror-bright chrome and semi-translucent bronze tinted Lucite.
This pair exemplifies the balance of organic form and modern material that characterized Tabacoff’s work in the late 1960s France. They offer a powerful presence from every angle, equally suited for a mid-century modern, Hollywood Regency, or contemporary minimalist interior.

CONDITION:
Excellent vintage condition overall. Lucite shells retain clarity mostly clear from hazing and scratches while chrome is bright and clean. One stable hairline crack noted on one chair (photographed and structurally sound). Upholstery is in beautiful light vintage condition with a soft hand and even tone.
There are Velcro strips already affixed to the bottom of the seat cushions but the other side of the Velcro was removed from the shells of the chairs. You can add a strip of Velcro to the chairs if you would like the cushions to be fixed in place. As it is they shift only lightly when you sit in them but are also easily adjustable.
We placed furniture pads underneath the circular base, which you can see in the photos. These can be easily removed, they are just there to protect the bottom of the chair bases while in storage.
