Hand colored in delicate detail, and enhanced by beautiful frames and matted alike with hand painted filage surrounds. The French artist/naturalist François-Nicolas Martinet (1731-?) was born in Paris and worked independently as well as with the Comte de Buffon on the encyclopedic work Histoire Naturelle which included 9 volumes documenting birds, an ornithological treasure trove. Good antique condition with light wear to the frames, minor signs of age/toning to the antique engravings.
