A striking Regency-style center or occasional table featuring a richly detailed circular top with a faux tortoiseshell decorated panel beneath glass. The top is centered by a bold radiating compass star motif, encircled by a classic Greek key border, and framed by a warm burl wood surround with delicate rope-twist inlay.

The table rests on a sculptural tripod base with reeded legs joined by an X-form stretcher, terminating in carved paw feet with subtle gilt accents. The elegant base complements the classical decorative language of the top.

Unmarked, but in the manner of Maitland-Smith and similar makers known for their use of faux finishes and neoclassical motifs.

A highly decorative piece, ideal as a center table, occasional table , or accent table.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with some wear consistent with age. There is visible water-related wear to the reverse-painted decoration beneath the glass top, which does not detract from the overall presentation but is reflected in the pricing. Minor surface wear to the base. See less
