The Base is … Read more A Beautiful, Unusual and Very Good Quality Antique Hotel Front Desk Bell. Circa Very Late 19th Century. The Base is Made Genuine Marble. It is Substantially Made - Quiet Heavy for its Size ( Weighs Well Over 1 Pound ). It has a Fancy Solid Cast Bronze Riser - Mid Section and Rotating Top Knob - The 2 Bell Sections are Solid Brass - All Being Nickel Plated. It has No Maker or Other Markings but in My Considered Opinion I Believe it Most Likely French. Note! that Unlike Most of the Bells of this type that have a Tap Button Top that Rings the bell Once Each Time you Tap - This one has a Turning - Rotating Knob that Creates a Ring Tone that can Best Be Described as That of a Old Style Telephone Ring. The Ring Tone is Lovely And Quite Loud. It is in Very Good Cosmetic and Functional Condition - Displays Nicely!. It has Some Light age and Use Related Surface Wear to the Nickel Plating at the Top of he Bell.
