This charming mid-20th-centure spool (bobbin-turned) side table was manufactured by the Cavalier Corporation (also known as Tennessee Furniture Company) in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dating to the late 1930's-early 1940's, it is documented with its original paper tag: Pattern No. 5809 and Run No. 4520, plus the iconic brass Cavalier emblem featuring the plumed cavalier figure.
This exact pattern was advertised in LIFE magazine as early as 1939, as a versatile "end stand" or occasional table prized for its classic Victorian-revival styling with practical modern construction.
