Thrown with confident proportions, the vase rises from a subtly rounded base into a slender neck, creating a strong vertical presence that reads as both sculptural and architectural. The body is finished in a deep charcoal glaze with a soft satin sheen, allowing light to move gently across the surface without excessive reflection. The upper section transitions into a mossy green glaze that thins toward the rim, revealing subtle tonal variation and fine vertical striations from the throwing process. Between the two glazes, a narrow band of warm brown appears, naturally formed during firing, adding depth and visual tension where the colors meet. This organic transition is not decorative excess but the result of controlled kiln chemistry, giving the piece its quiet complexity. The interior appears glazed, and the narrow mouth is well suited to a minimal floral arrangement, a few long stems, or branches. Equally compelling when left empty, this vase functions as a standalone object, ideal for console tables, shelving, or floor-level placement in a modern, wabi-sabi, or gallery-style interior. An expressive example of contemporary studio ceramics, this vase balances restraint and character, with the surface, proportions, and glaze doing the worknothing more, nothing less.
