The wood is very clear with very few knots. The top is particularly clean with a step-down routed edge with a concave cove molding pinned to the underside, giving the appearance of a bold crown. The top drawer is shallow with a convex front and has a row of vertical flutes an inch and a half apart carved into its front. Along the interior front are five compartments for holding watches, jewelry, coins or other small items. All four drawers are delicately hand-dovetailed with zinc escutcheon plates. The drawers are flanked with applied fluted molding, meeting the breakfront base molding at the bottom and capped, above a cloverleaf carving, with fluted corbels. Small enough to be paired with another for use as a nightstand by a king size bed or great for a guest room, child’s bedroom, or as a base for a powder room vanity. See less
