This is a handsome antique davenport desk which dates to the late 19th century.
It is a distinctive looking piece which is perfect for use in an office or home study.
The davenport is made of oak and mixed woods and will make a nice alternative to a traditional desk. The top is fitted with a sloping lid set below a raised compartment with lift up lid, designed for storing pens and pencils. The sloping lid is inset with a piece of tooled green leather and the raised back area is surmounted with a pierced brass rail.
One side of the davenport is fitted with four drawers, the opposing side has four dummy drawer fronts.
The sloping top is supported by flanking tapered supports and the base is set on porcelain castors. There is a key for three of the drawers, the bottom drawer lock is not working.
The davenport features attractive carvings and the wood has a polished finish.
CONDITION
The davenport is in solid structural condition with various cosmetic marks.
