It is beautifully framed and will be a lovely focal point in any room. It is signed in pencil and is numbered 'HC 9/10' in the bottom left-hand corner. 'HC' stands for the French term 'Hors de Commerce' (meaning "out of trade" or "not for sale"). With only 10 in the edition, this is a rare, high-quality print originally produced as an exhibition copy or sample for a gallery. Therefore, 'HC' prints are highly sought after by collectors.

Howard Chesner Behrens (1933 – 2014) was an American artist. He was born in Chicago and grew up near Washington, D.C. His formal education in art was at the University of Maryland, where he earned a master's degree in painting and sculpture. He had over 150 one-man shows from coast-to-coast after becoming a professional artist in 1980. He was predominantly a landscape and seascape artist, painting all over the world. Behren's works have been on the covers of many art publications and he has been the featured subject of numerous magazines and newspapers. As an official artist for the 2002 Winter Olympics, Behrens painting, In Motion, was featured at the games. His work is owned by numerous collectors and are in the permanent collections of many museums. See less
