Elegant Japanese painted 4-panel Japanese byobu (folding screen) depicts a Blossoming Sakura (Cherry Tree) on gold background. Signed and sealed by artist. Watercolor and ink on gold-leaf style paper. Silk border. Lacquered black wood frame with engraved copper corners, plaques and medallions. Paper on back. Japan, Shōwa Era, circa 1980-1990s. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minor age wear overall, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This screen most likely had one owner in the past, and perhaps, was in storage for few decades.
