A rare, museum-quality 19th-century Masonic Officer’s Collar from the Grand Encampment of the Knights Templar (circa 1870–1885). This "Territorial" era artifact was produced by the renowned Frank Henderson Regalia Co. of Kalamazoo, MI, prior to their 1893 merger. Sourced from the private estate of a prominent Hollywood interior designer, this piece carries both significant historical gravitas and professional aesthetic vetting.
Design & Detail
The collar is masterfully crafted from a luminous, rose-hued velvet, serving as a vibrant backdrop for hand-wrought metallic bullion passementerie. A unique feature of this specific collar is the original three-link metal chain and secure O-ring hardware used to join the flaps, which formerly suspended a heavy jewel of office. It is finished with a weighted metallic tassel, providing excellent visual weight and "Old World" texture.
Provenance & Identification
The reverse features a perfectly preserved original Frank Henderson manufacturer's label with handwritten period identification ("LXT Philip"). This direct link to the late 19th-century fraternal tradition makes it a premiere candidate for collectors of documented Americana.
Styling Note
In the 2026 "Modern Heritage" and "Dark Academia" design trends, this piece is an ideal candidate for professional shadowbox framing. Its elegant, rounded silhouette and shimmering metallic textures offer a soulful, "found object" alternative to traditional art for a library, study, or refined entryway.
Condition
Very Good Antique Condition. The velvet retains remarkable color with some nap loss on the red portions on the front. There is some spotting on the sating back side as shown. The metallic fringe and tassels show a handsome, authentic patina.
Dimensions
16" L (21" including tassel) x 3.5" W
