Set of 6 original antique Seaweed prints published in England in the early 1800s. These hand-colored engravings are from the First Edition of "English Botany", illustrated by James Sowerby (1757-1822). Sowerby was an English naturalist, artist, engraver and teacher.
The Seaweed shown on the prints include:
Top Row (L to R): Stone-crop Fucus (1803), Pellucid Fucus (1807), Compressed Laver (1807)
Bottom Row (L to R): Round-stalked Fucus (1807), Serrated Fucus (1803), Jagged Fucus (1802)
Each print measures 5 x 8 inches, and includes a certificate with additional information about the series and original page of accompanying text.
These are original antique prints - not reproductions. They are in excellent condition. Each print is packaged in an archival plastic sleeve with backing board. The series ships in a cardboard flat mailer with an enclosed cardboard insert for additional protection.
