Very nice cerused and tile cheese board by Georges Briard from the 1960s. The wood base has two pewter colored … Read more Very nice cerused and tile cheese board by Georges Briard from the 1960s. The wood base has two pewter colored metal handles and the wood painted with a creamy white paint cerused to show the beauty of the wood. The tile is colored in a gray (pewter) glaze and a thick silver glaze of flowers and leaves applied over the gray background.
Measurements: 12 inches diameter x 2 inches to top of handles
Condition: Minor wear consistent with age and use. Paint might have rubed off in certain spots, not obvious due to its ceruse finish. The silver design with no issues. Please look at all images.


Jascha Brojdo (1917-2005) was born in Ukraine, Russia, at the time, to a wealthy and prominent family. In 1937 he imigrated to the US. where he became a prominent designer under the name Georges Briard. Most of his creations are in the glassware and dishware production but some furniture (we have a small table listed) was also designed by him . Briards creations were coveted and his items were sold only in Nieman Marcus, Bonwit Teller and other high end department stores in the US. Georges Briard Designs were made by Glass Guild of New York. See less
