Chalkware Over Door Pediment, Putti-Cherubs, Trumpets, Gargoyle Face 21.5" Wide
A great decorative piece for over a door, window, on a mantel. Made of chalkware this wall sculpture boasts the Italian Renaissance through Rococo periods with the two cherubs/putti sitting inside the wide reaching scrolls playing their musical trumpets, representative of innocence or divinity with a gargoyle face in the center bottom to scare away evil spirits.
This pediment is made of a chalkware type plaster and is finished in a whitewashed terracotta, giving it an antiqued white appearance. The rear is equipped with a crude hanging wire which is inserted into the plaster. The back has a black stamp with the words 'fleur de lis' and the symbol.
Size: 21.5" Wide x 5" High x 1.5" Thick
Condition: Unknown age or origin. Some minor knicks mainly on the rear, no impact to the beauty of the piece.
